The purpose of local government is to enable individuals to JOIN TOGETHER in recognizing and solving community problems. In our town's Mission Statement it says, "The Town of Rockland is dedicated to providing exceptional services with integrity, respect and professionalism for all its citizens, businesses and visitors. In doing so, we strive to broaden a sense of community through an open and responsive government that is informative, adaptable and sustainable."
Within this model there are bound to be exciting new projects and ideas, shared values, and an array of disagreements on how to get things done. Can we disagree without being disagreeable? Can we reason without being unreasonable?
